About Registration

Registration

A user account on our site grants access to special content for members and attenders of Miami Friends Meeting. Your account will have to be activated by a site administrator before you can log in. As soon as your account is activated you will recieve a notification email with login instructions. We hope you will appreciate that this authorization process is necessary to eliminate spam and other malicious access to the site.

Privacy Concerns

Note that all your private information -- such as your full name, address, and phone number  -- is not visible to the public or to other users. This information will not be distributed or shared with others. Entering your address and phone numbers is optional, but may be helpful in allowing us to contact you.

If you wish to further protect your annonymity on the site, you can choose a User ID (your login name) as something different from your real name.

We require your full name at registration so we can identify who is requesting an account, and to determine if you are a member or attender of the meeting. We require an email address so we can contact you regarding registration. Your email address is also used for optional mailing list subscriptions and in case you forget your password.

Passwords are Confidential

No one, not even site adminstrators, has access to your password -- although administrators can reset a password if necessary. Normally you will be able to manage your own access to the site, including changing your password, by using the "Request new password" link in the login area. This interaction is automated and is entirely private between you and the website.

The Website Contact Form

Our committees may select one or more of their members to receive email from the contact form on the website. This can enable anyone to address communications to a committee without having to know who is on the committee or what their email addresses are. If your address is used in the contact form, no one will know what it is unless you reply to the message they send. The site uses a filtering service to limit the amount of spam that otherwise might be sent through the contact form. (More info about the open source filtering service at www.mollom.com.)

Personal Contact Form

If you edit your user account information after logging in, you will see an option to allow the use of a personal contact form which is disabled by default. At present, personal contact forms are not used on our site, but in the future they may enable other registered users of the site to send you a message without having to know your email address. You would have to opt-in to allow this.

User Photos

After your account has been created and you log in, you also have the option to upload a photo of yourself that may appear along with your login name if you post certain kinds of content to the site. To upload a photo just go to My Account and edit your information. If you have concerns about this, just don't upload a photo.
